This ride is an easy-going stroll through Santa Fe National Forest, on top of Rowe Mesa. We'll travel through stands of pinon, juniper and ponderosa, across wide open grasslands with 360 degree views, and along the edge of a stunning overlook into rocky canyons. Then, we'll duck into the shade under some ponderosa pines for a picnic lunch before riding back. Altogether, we'll be out on the trail for about 3.25 hours, including the lunch break. This is a great choice if you'd like to spend some quality time out in nature with the horses, with less challenging terrain than our wilderness rides.
Rowe Mesa Picnic Ride
Please call or email us to check availability for the date(s) you would like to ride before booking online. Once we agree on a date, we ask for a 50% deposit to reserve your spot, which can be paid online here. Since we reserve your horses for your date, this deposit is non-refundable. We reserve to the right to cancel a booked ride if we determine that severe weather conditions make it unsafe to ride. In this case, your deposit will be refunded.
At checkout, please click on "Add a Note" and enter your date, as well as everyone's heights, weights, and riding experience levels. This will help us match you with the best fitting horses.
When checking out, click on "Promo Code" and enter code DEPOSIT. This will give you the amount due for your 50% deposit. Simply repeat this by the night before your ride for the remaining balance. If you prefer to pay the balance in cash, on the morning of your ride, please let us know in advance of your ride date. If you would like to pay the full amount online to avoid returning to check out again, that is also fine.
We're really glad that you're interested in riding with us, and we'd like to give you some tips to help you have the best time possible.
Please be sure to wear suitable clothing. This means long pants, closed toe shoes like sneakers or boots, and a hat for sun protection. We could encounter a variety of weather conditions, so please bring extra layers and a rain jacket. For the safety of both riders and horses, we have a 200 lb. weight limit. Sorry, but we can't let anyone ride in sandals, shorts, or anything else we consider unsafe.
Be sure to bring a plastic or metal water bottle. For our half day and full day rides, we recommend bringing a bagged lunch and a few snacks. We will stop for a 30 minute lunch break.
