Pecos Baldy Lake is one of the most popular destinations in the Pecos Wilderness, and it's easy to see why. We will start out from Jack's Creek Campground, and ride through aspen groves, wide open meadows, and dense, quiet pine forests before we top out at the lake. Here, we may be lucky enough to observe some Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep. Baldy Lake is home to one of the nation's healthiest herds, and they are often grazing on the surrounding slopes. This ride is a combination of steep rocky terrain, and gentle sloping meadows. It is approximately 7 hours in total riding time. Due to the long amount of time in the saddle, we generally only recommend this ride for folks who have a little bit of riding experience, and are in very good physical fitness.
